On the 27th of September we had the pleasure of welcoming back Old Holmewoodians, who attended the school in the 1960s, and former staff, Sandy Helm and Barbara Simpson. The event was organised in part by Old Holmewoodian Haydn Keenan, who is currently producing a film about Holmewood in the 1960s. The film highlights the multicultural nature of the school and the formative impact it has. Testimonials shown here reveal the same. The evening consisted of a tour of the school and a wonderful gala dinner interspersed with speeches, singing and even a Shakespeare performance. Our Orangery and screens were filled with film footage, photographs and newspaper clippings documenting the years the alumni had spent at the school. It was a truly wonderful evening which embodied everything that has made Holmewood so special across its 80 years – the life-long friendships, the community and the opportunities. A huge thank you to those who attended, those who helped put on the event and a special thank you to Haydn for organising and inviting everyone - we cannot wait to watch the finished film. To join our Alumni network and sign up for reunion events, please complete the short form (link in bio - Old Holmewoodians Network). #Alumni #OldHolmewoodians #HolmewoodAlumni #HolmewoodHouseSchool #PrepSchool #IndependentSchool #TunbridgeWells

Yesterday, the children kicked off the week by celebrating the festival of Diwali. They crafted their own paper plate diya lamps, explored a colourful splash sensory tray, and created dazzling fork-splatter fireworks.

TESTIMONIALS WHAT OUR STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY
Parent
Just wanted to express our thanks for this term. What a year! We’ve been utterly impressed by HH’s approach and care. We feel very grateful to be at this school and for the wonderful start in life it has given our children.
Prospective Parent
We both through that the school was superb – in fact as we were driving off of the property, we remarked that it was faultless across the board. We both feel that our children would thrive at Holmewood.
Pupil
“I love having Mojo the PAT Dog in my classroom, he listens to me read.”
Parent
“Our son ia a typical boy – great at maths, loves sports, hates writing!! But one of the teachers spotted that it was more than this … he was assessed and has dyslexia. Contrary to what many people may think, both we and the school see this positively – with the support of the Learning Support team, he now has a greater chance of reaching his true academic potential. Already, as a result of typing rather than doing handwritten work, he has discovered a new found love of creative writing and huge confidence in comprehension.”
Pupil
“I like playing in the garden and growing flowers and vegetables.”
Pupil
“The amount of opportunities we are offered is incredible and the teachers are all very helpful and friendly.”
Parent
“Communication at Holmewood is very good and they offer a number of opportunities each term for parents to attend both educational and pastoral forums.”
Pupil
“Holmewood house is a very good school which helps pupils feel at home and can adapt to suit you. I enjoy maths the most because my teacher makes you try to do things for yourself and he is very supportive.”
Parent
“I feel privileged to send my children to a school where teachers care so much and are able to work in such small class sizes.”
Age 18
I do believe that all my successes in life so far stem from my years at Holmewood. As well as providing a brilliant academic base, the nurturing from the teachers is like nothing else, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Parent
“Holmewood offers a unique education in a safe and supportive environment for children of all ages.”
Parent
The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
