A DAY & BOARDING PREP SCHOOL IN TUNBRIDGE WELLS, KENT
Holmewood House prep school in Tunbridge Wells is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and pupils allows us to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
We foster their talents and nurture their growth through a broad, balanced, challenging and exciting curriculum and, in doing so, create an environment whereby each child is provided with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We believe that emotional and social well-being, self-esteem, happiness and confidence are of prime importance and are in themselves inextricably linked to academic progress.
Holmewood House is a co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Tunbridge Wells.
The wonderful environment and outstanding facilities provide a strong framework upon which the ethos of ‘allowing children to be children can be achieved.

Pre-Nursery had an exciting visit from Jaws ‘n’ Claws this morning as part of British Science Week. The children were introduced to Pete the Bullfrog, Alice the Royal Python, Ryan the Bearded Dragon and Winnie the Red-Footed Tortoise, amongst others, and they were fascinated by each one. They listened closely as Phil explained how to handle and care for the animals, and they showed calm, gentle hands when invited to touch them.
It was a great opportunity to see these amazing animals up close and learn about their habitats and behaviours. Thank you Jaws ‘n’ Claws for such an engaging and memorable learning experience!

Daisy (Year 4) and her partner Frankie were selected to represent their gymnastics club, Tigers, in the Maia International Acro Cup 2026 in Portugal last week.
Competing as part of a women’s partnership in a strong field of 27 pairs at their grade from all over the world, they delivered consistent routines throughout the event qualifying for the semi‑finals, then advancing to the finals, where they achieved an incredible second place, coming home with silver medals! And they have only been together for six months!
This is an amazing achievement and we are so proud of Daisy. Huge congratulations to both girls!

Six of our budding young musicians joined other prep school pupils at Eastbourne College for their annual orchestral day. Music included Tchaikovsky`s famous 1812 overture and William Tell amongst a host of other pieces including sea shanties and reels as well as some improvising. Leo led the orchestra brilliantly with Bea also playing 1st violin, Zenon joining the cello section, Hannah in the trumpets, Torres in the percussion section and Henry leading the improvisation with his saxophone! Thank you to @eastbournecollege for hosting such a brilliant day. #music #orchestra #selfbelief #aspiration #holmewoodhouseschool

The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Holmewood pupils as well as the wider community and takes places after the Holmewood school day has finished and on a Saturday morning.
Holmewood House School has been running holiday courses since 1998. We aim to offer a wide variety of courses for children aged 5-12 in a secure and relaxed environment.
Holmewood House provides a broad, well-balanced curriculum with outstanding teachers in what is very much a family school where the positive relationships between the teachers and children allows staff to get to know and understand the individual needs of each and every child.
TESTIMONIALS WHAT OUR STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY
Parent
Just wanted to express our thanks for this term. What a year! We’ve been utterly impressed by HH’s approach and care. We feel very grateful to be at this school and for the wonderful start in life it has given our children.
Prospective Parent
We both through that the school was superb – in fact as we were driving off of the property, we remarked that it was faultless across the board. We both feel that our children would thrive at Holmewood.
Pupil
“Thank you for your ongoing efforts in making Holmewood such a safe and nurturing place to grow, take risks, make mistakes and be curious, where the children are well known by their teachers and your team to help them navigate their course to growing confidence, leadership and empathy for helping others”.
Parent
“Our son ia a typical boy – great at maths, loves sports, hates writing!! But one of the teachers spotted that it was more than this … he was assessed and has dyslexia. Contrary to what many people may think, both we and the school see this positively – with the support of the Learning Support team, he now has a greater chance of reaching his true academic potential. Already, as a result of typing rather than doing handwritten work, he has discovered a new found love of creative writing and huge confidence in comprehension.”
Pupil
“I like playing in the garden and growing flowers and vegetables.”
Pupil
“The amount of opportunities we are offered is incredible and the teachers are all very helpful and friendly.”
Parent
“Communication at Holmewood is very good and they offer a number of opportunities each term for parents to attend both educational and pastoral forums.”
Pupil
“Holmewood house is a very good school which helps pupils feel at home and can adapt to suit you. I enjoy maths the most because my teacher makes you try to do things for yourself and he is very supportive.”
Parent
“I feel privileged to send my children to a school where teachers care so much and are able to work in such small class sizes.”
Age 18
I do believe that all my successes in life so far stem from my years at Holmewood. As well as providing a brilliant academic base, the nurturing from the teachers is like nothing else, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Parent
“Holmewood offers a unique education in a safe and supportive environment for children of all ages.”
Parent
The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
