Last week, our Year 8s completed their Enrichment Projects as part of our bespoke Enrichment curriculum that runs throughout the Prep School. Every pupil took part in the TEDxRTW and Holmewood House Oracy Project, attending training with TEDxRTW and developing their public‑speaking skills with their teachers. Their challenge: to research a topic of personal interest and present it either as a speech or a presentation board. On Friday, pupils who felt ready to take to the stage were invited to speak at an official TEDx event at Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells. Twelve brave and brilliant speakers stepped onto that iconic red dot, sharing talks on topics ranging from Being a Sibling to Certainty and Doubt, The Best Pasta Shape, Golf Clubs and more. We are incredibly proud of our pupils for embracing the nerves, rising to the challenge, and showcasing such confidence, curiosity, and character. Their joy afterwards said it all. Holmewood House was one of five schools involved in this fantastic outreach initiative, and it was a privilege to host the project. Thank you TEDx for this opportunity. #TEDx #TEDxRoyalTunbridgeWells #TEDTalks #Year8 #SelfBelief #Aspiration #HolmewoodHouseSchool

Happy World Bee Day! 🐝 Did you know that when Bees get tired, they nap in flowers? Or that they communicate by dancing? Our delicious Holmewood Honey is produced by our very own school bees and has long been a firm favourite within the school community. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Weald countryside, our bees enjoy an abundance of wildflowers and woodland helping to produce honey of the very highest quality. More than just a treat, the hives also help children learn about biodiversity, sustainability and the importance of protecting pollinators. Even better, sales of Holmewood Honey help support the wonderful work of Hospice in the Weald, making every jar a small way to give back to our local community. We are grateful to Friends of Holmewood for supplying the hives and to beekeeper, John Preston, for his many years of commitment and service to the school. Thank you John! #WorldBeeDay #HolmewoodHoney #Savethebees #OutdoorLearning #HospiceInTheWeald #HolmewoodHouseSchool

Congratulations to Anna, Anne and Tavonga in Year 6, winners of the @eastbournecollege Inter-Prep School Public Speaking Competition. 🥇 The girls delivered an insightful presentation on `The Amazing David Attenborough`, while the boys gave a thoughtful speech on `What difference will AI make to my life in the next eight years?`. The standard across all teams in the competition was exceptional, with every speaker delivering their very best. At the end of the event, Mr Lawson, the Headmaster of Eastbourne, presented the prizes and spoke about the importance of public speaking and oracy. He highlighted how vital these skills are in helping young people grow in confidence and character, skills that sit at the heart of a Holmewood education. Mrs Jervois was very proud of every Holmewood pupil who spoke. A wonderful achievement for team Holmewood! #PublicSpeaking #Oracy #Year6 #SelfBelief #Aspiration #HolmewoodHouseSchool

TESTIMONIALS WHAT OUR STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY
Parent
Just wanted to express our thanks for this term. What a year! We’ve been utterly impressed by HH’s approach and care. We feel very grateful to be at this school and for the wonderful start in life it has given our children.
Prospective Parent
We both through that the school was superb – in fact as we were driving off of the property, we remarked that it was faultless across the board. We both feel that our children would thrive at Holmewood.
Pupil
“Thank you for your ongoing efforts in making Holmewood such a safe and nurturing place to grow, take risks, make mistakes and be curious, where the children are well known by their teachers and your team to help them navigate their course to growing confidence, leadership and empathy for helping others”.
Parent
“Our son ia a typical boy – great at maths, loves sports, hates writing!! But one of the teachers spotted that it was more than this … he was assessed and has dyslexia. Contrary to what many people may think, both we and the school see this positively – with the support of the Learning Support team, he now has a greater chance of reaching his true academic potential. Already, as a result of typing rather than doing handwritten work, he has discovered a new found love of creative writing and huge confidence in comprehension.”
Pupil
“I like playing in the garden and growing flowers and vegetables.”
Pupil
“The amount of opportunities we are offered is incredible and the teachers are all very helpful and friendly.”
Parent
“Communication at Holmewood is very good and they offer a number of opportunities each term for parents to attend both educational and pastoral forums.”
Pupil
“Holmewood house is a very good school which helps pupils feel at home and can adapt to suit you. I enjoy maths the most because my teacher makes you try to do things for yourself and he is very supportive.”
Parent
“I feel privileged to send my children to a school where teachers care so much and are able to work in such small class sizes.”
Age 18
I do believe that all my successes in life so far stem from my years at Holmewood. As well as providing a brilliant academic base, the nurturing from the teachers is like nothing else, and I cannot thank you enough for that.
Parent
“Holmewood offers a unique education in a safe and supportive environment for children of all ages.”
Parent
The chaperone service that Holmewood House offers has meant that our son has been able to access the best of both worlds, a country boarding school during the week where he can enjoy the space and facilities which are very hard to come by in London and then is able to come home every Friday to enjoy a full weekend with family. It is extremely convenient to be able to pick him up & drop off from central London & is workable on top of the other commitments I have! He looks forward to his trips on the train where he gets any unfinished homework done and then is able to relax at home
