News from the Nursery
Continuing on with our land before time theme, the children designed their own fossils using pasta and lentils, some were dinosaurs, others sea creatures, and we even had a very gruesome claw. Whilst the weather has been wet and wild, this hasn’t stopped our outdoor pursuits, as we enjoyed a visit to the tennis courts to blow away the cobwebs. Autumn has been another focus this week, as we explored the changing season, stormy weather, and pop of colours. Putting their hands inside the tote bag, the children took it in turns to guess what object they could feel and learned new words to describe with such as bumpy, smooth, hard, soft, prickly.
Next week we will be discovering stone age animals and interacting with an animal game involving a piece of music from “Carnival of the animals”, encouraging the children to stomp like a woolly mammoth, and pounce like a saber-toothed cat. We will also be touching upon habitats and whether the animals lived on land or in water, as well as what they might need to survive.
