Race at Goodwood
Last Sunday, our Green Power Club, made up of Year 6, 7, and 8 pupils, successfully raced their F24 kit-built electric car at the iconic Goodwood motor-racing circuit. It was an amazing day, with everyone working together to achieve success for the team. Building and preparing the car for race day has required extraordinary effort from the children, who competed against much older teenagers. Throughout the process, the children have demonstrated remarkable attention to detail by following complex instructions and working collaboratively to solve problems. Along the way, they have developed invaluable skills such as resilience, teamwork, and the ability to learn from setbacks—lessons that will serve them well beyond the racetrack.
Mr. Murray and Mr. Unwin are incredibly proud of every one of the children. Now, it’s back to the DT room to refine the car for the next race!
Results:
The results are based on the total distance covered i.e. how many laps you can do within that time. We finished both races (each race is 90 minutes long), but our speed affects the distance. Our car (The Blue Marlin) came 6th in class out of 14 other kit-built cars. There were two types of F24 car racing together (the kit built and the scratch built). Out of all the cars racing we came 12th out of 23 cars. The age range for all the competing cars was 11-16 years.
