Your child is invited to take part in CILIP’s Shadowing Scheme for the Carnegies Medals.

Your Year 7 child has the opportunity to take part in CILIP’s shadowing scheme for the Carnegies Book Awards. Selected pupils will participate in a reading group (every Wednesday during morning break in the Learning Hub, starting Wednesday 30th April) where we read, debate and discuss the brilliant books shortlisted for the Carnegies Medal for Illustration. Shadowing is a national activity with thousands of schools taking part by running reading groups where pupils shadow the role of the librarian judges, read the shortlisted books and debate who should win the prize. Winners are announced at a live streamed event on June 19th which the pupils will have the opportunity to watch eating pizza!

Completed pupil application forms and permissions will need to be in by 4.30pm on Thursday 27th March. Ten pupils will be selected and notified via their form tutors by the end of term.
