Safer Internet Day

The children had the chance to design their own wrist bands to pledge how they should act when online, a colouring competition based on internet safety. the chance to make their own sticker using cloud-based software connected to a Cricut machine and the chance to play some retro games using touch screens. The PrePrep assembly covered ‘Pop Ups’.  We thought about how technology has changed over the years and compared how tech looked in the past and what it looks like now.  We spoke about how the internet is a shared space and that we can be online with lots of people we don’t know who are online at the same time.  We spoke about what to do if we get pop ups on our screen encouraging us to tap, buy, open or send a message.  The main message of the assembly is STOP CLOSE TELL.  If they get a pop up – stop playing, close the cover or put it in a safe place and tell a trusted adult who can help you.
