We had an excellent day where Year 8 pupils learnt about Henry VIII’s favourite ship the Mary Rose. The museum had a new 4D cinema style attraction which showed how the divers discovered the ship on the seabed and how it was salvaged back in 1982. We had time for a boat trip around Portsmouth Harbour and due to the glorious weather, pupils had stunning views on the south coast from the top of the Spinnaker Tower. Bruce Combie
This week Year 8 have been planning out their Softwood Box project. They have been marking the sides ready for sawing and being as accurate as they could be! James Murray
Year 8 created some large scale automatic drawings as they listened to music, then had fun drawing portraits of their classmates whilst not looking at their paper! These amusing exercises are great ways to be spontaneous and not to take drawing too seriously. Tom Johnson

European Day of Languages 🌍
What a great day celebrating languages, traditions, and cultures at Holmewood! Pupils enjoyed speaking or listening to new languages, designing T-shirts, dancing, writing their names using another script and building their own Pyramide du Louvre and Arc de Triomphe! 🗼
In House Assembly, Leaders shared their travel stories, and Ash House had a special Italian lesson from teacher Fernando. 2KM gave a brilliant assembly - did you know that at Holmewood over 20 different languages are spoken?
Year 2 have also be using atlases and ipads to locate and name different countries of Europe and to identify the different spoken languages 📖🌍. And we welcomed some special guests with parents sharing stories in their native languages with the children.
There have been lots of games and activities throughout the day sharing not only a love of languages but the importance of learning about new cultures and building relationships around the world.
