European Day of Languages

We had such a fabulous day with two lovely parents coming in and sharing their home languages with us.

In the morning Mrs Blain came in and she read us ‘The three little pigs’ in Czech and then we sung heads, shoulders knees and toes in Czech too. It was so fun as we kept singing it faster and faster! Adam showed us how he can count in Czech too and also taught us please and thank you which we will try to use in and around class!

We had another lovely visit in the afternoon this time from Mrs Makoni. Lauren’s mum shared her African Shona language with us and we learnt how to say Lauren’s name in Shona. We had great fun listening to a beautifully uplifting African and English gospel song and we joined in with dance moves led by Lauren. We even got the rainbow scarves out and had the best time dancing all together! Mrs Makoni’s African skirt swirled and spun the most beautiful colours as we danced! Emma Bonwick

And Mrs Bennett visited 1AF and 1CH to read the story “The fabulous lost and found” about a German mouse’s hunt for a lost item.  A gorgeous story that exposed the children to German words for a range of lost items.  What a wonderful visit from a German mummy! Antoinette Faure
