Pastoral Care

In order for children to thrive, it is vital that the pastoral aspect of their education is at the forefront of everything that we do. The relationship with parents and extended family is something that we strive to nurture from your first tour of our school to the day your child moves onto their next chapter.

We aim to make every day a special learning experience for your young child with the emphasis being on having fun! Happy children learn best by being active explorers both inside and outside the classroom. We, therefore, make full use of not only our lovely classrooms but also our purpose-built outdoor learning area and our extensive grounds, in order to provide a variety of learning opportunities.

Our nursery has become synonymous with quality provision, and we adopt a practical child-centred approach, where children are respected as individuals and encouraged to learn and develop at their own pace. The needs of each individual child are paramount at Holmewood House and we provide outstanding provision to ensure every child’s interests, safety and happiness is central to everything we do. Megan Ovenden has joined as Head of Nursery in September 2023, and alongside Mrs Sheilagh Schweitzer, our Head of EYFS, is a brilliant, additional on-the-ground expert to have in the EYFS team.

As your child moves from the Early Years and into Year Key Stage 1, we take great care to ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible and that their pastoral journey continues to be as important as their academic one. We encourage the children to be increasingly independent and see our job as equipping each child with the tools that they will need to succeed as they move through school.
