Drama at Holmewood House
Holmewood House School offers an exceptional drama provision, featuring a comprehensive and practical curriculum designed to immerse children in the world of theatre. With professional drama teachers who have close links to the theatre industry, the school provides a rich environment for aspiring actors and technicians. Holmewood House also supports its pupils through a drama scholarship programme, with past pupils securing roles in major productions such as “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in the West End.

Children engage in an enriching curriculum covering miming, improvisation, devising, scripted work, breaking the fourth wall, and performance. All lessons are conducted on the stage of the school’s 350-seat theatre, emphasising a hands-on approach.
Performances
Each year group from Pre Nursery to Year 8 stages a main performance, allowing children to choose roles that match their comfort level and passion. Highlights include the annual musical theatre production, which is a highly anticipated event with packed audiences. Recent productions such as “Legally Blonde” and “A Touch of Snow White” have seen enthusiastic participation from children across all year group, supported by a rich collection of costumes and impressive set designs crafted by the school’s maintenance team and art department. Additionally, a professional technician trains students interested in backstage roles, ensuring a well-rounded theatrical education.

LAMDA Training
Holmewood also boasts two LAMDA teachers who provide training in acting, public speaking, verse & prose, and musical theatre, achieving a 100% pass rate in recent exams. This specialised training ensures that students not only excel in their performance skills but also in their confidence and communication abilities.
